Valve, developers of the best-selling game series like (Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress, and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies such as Steam and the Source Engine, released the first game add-on for their cooperative zombie survivor shooter titled Left 4 Dead 2. Titled "The Passing", the add-on brings the original Left 4 Dead survivors for a meeting with the Left 4 Dead 2 cast. "The Passing" is the first ever game add-on for L4D2, and it will deliver new single-player, multi-player and cooperative game play for Windows-Based PCs and Microsoft's Xbox 360 video game console.
"The Passing" will also introduce series of game mode events dubbed "Mutations" every week which will run of new game play modes ranging from "Realism Versus" to "Chainsaw Massacre". "Chainsaw Massacre" game mode gives all players chainsaws with an unlimited supply of gasoline.
"The Passing" will feature new cooperative challenge mode, support for infected bot play in "Versus", a new zombie class, a golf club melee weapon, and a new M-60 firearm.
"The Passing" is going to be available for 560 Microsoft Points on Microsoft's Xbox 360 video game console, and for free on Windows-Based PCs. The add-on will take place just after the "Dead Center" campaign of Left 4 Dead 2, set in a small town in rural Georgia. The players will take the perspective of the L4D2 Survivors as they meet with the L4D1 cast.
Left 4 Dead 2 is exclusively available for Windows-Based PCs and the Xbox 360 video game console and sets a new benchmark for cooperative action games. The game adds melee combat weapons such as frying pans, axes and baseballs bats to enable deeper cooperative action.
With features like new Survival maps, more cooperative and Versus campaigns, and the new competitive game mode "Scavenge", Left 4 Dead 2 offers a much bigger game play experience than the original.
