Electronic Arts Inc. announced today that the legendary war-based first-person shooter titled Medal of Honor is going to launch on the 15th of October, 2010 throughout Europe.
The shipping date will be announced today through an emotionally charged trailer called "Leave a Message". The trailer will show a United Stated Army Ranger platoon heading into combat on a helicopter. The chaos and uncertainty of the mission is belied by the reassuring voice of one of the Rangers as he reaches out to his family back home.
Executive Producer of Medal of Honor, Greg Goodrich, explained that Medal of Honor is an authentic look into today's war. He also said that the game is inspired by real people and real events and that it puts the player in the boots of the today's warrior - from the infantry ground pounder, to the Tier 1 Operator. Greg explained that they are very proud of this piece because it offers a glimpse into the game they are creating, while also showing the mindset of the warriors.
The Medal of Honor will leave behind the World War II scene for the first time in eleven years. The game will take place in the modern day environment of war-torn Afghanistan seen through the lens of a small group of fictional characters. The players will be introduced to the Tier 1 Operator who is an elite warrior and relatively unknown instrument of the United States Military that operates under the National Command Authority.
The Medal of Honor Single-Player Campaign is being carefully developed by the Electronic Arts Studio in Los Angeles. They have been working closely with Tier 1 Operators from the United States Special Operations Community in order to tailor the most authentic modern warfare experience possible.
To backup the Single-Player experience, Electronic Arts in Los Angeles enlisted the Multiplayer expertise of Electronic Arts Digital Illusions CE AB. The studios will together bring the franchise to the new generation this fall.
