Half-Life – The first step of Valve’s Revolutionary Franchise
Half-Life is a science fiction first-person shooter video game developed by Valve Corporation and it’s the predecessor to the successful Half-Life 2. Published by Sierra Studios, the game was first released in November 1998 for PC and in November 2001 for the Playstation 2 ported by Gearbox Software. Half-Life uses a heavily modified Quake Engine version, which was named “GoldSrc” or “Goldsource”, and was able to render in two application programming interfaces, which are Direct3D and OpenGL. The successor of the GoldSrc engine is the Source engine ran by Half-Life 2. Half-Life won over fifty “Game of the Year” awards since its release, and sold over twenty million copies.
Half-Life 2 is a science fiction first-person shooter video game developed by Valve Corporation and it’s the sequel to the successful Half-Life. The game was released in November 2004 after five years of development, but it could’ve been released one year earlier. It was delayed because of a leak into the internet of the game’s source code.
Crysis is a first-person shooter video game with science-fiction elements and is developed by Crytek. Published by Electronic Arts, the game was released in November 2007 for Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and it’s the first installment of a trilogy.
Call of Duty 6 – Modern Warfare 2 is a first-person shooter video game, developed by Infinity Ward for Playstation 3, Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360. Published by Activision, the game was officially announced on 11th of February 2009 and was released worldwide on 10th of November 2009. The game is a direct sequel to – Call of Duty 4 – Modern Warfare, continuing the same storyline, and is the sixth installment of the Call of Duty Franchise. Modern Warfare was released in relation with two other Call of Duty titles such as Call of Duty – Modern Warfare – Reflex for the Nintendo Wii and Call of Duty – Modern Warfare – Mobilized for the Nintendo DS.
