Konami Digital Entertainment announced today the launch of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for the Sony PlayStation Portable gaming system. This latest installment for Sony’s handheld console is developed by the mastermind who is behind the most successful tactical video game series, Hideo Kojima.

The game takes place where Metal Gear Solid 3 for the Sony PlayStation 2 left off. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker takes the franchise to the year 1974 in a scenario of the cold war – a new direction with incredible visuals and unique design, specifically developed for the Sony PlayStation Portable system.

President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Shinji Hirano, said that this stunning new title from Hideo Kojima and his Tokyo-based Kojima Productions team will amaze both Metal Gear players and new games alike. He also said that Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is a spectacular stealth title that brings the action and thrill of a console game to the Sony PlayStation Portable system taking an interesting turn in the Metal Gear Solid saga.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker combines action Role-Playing Game elements with Real-Time Strategy elements, featuring a gripping story, unfolding through the Yoji Shinkawa artworks.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is now available exclusively on the Sony PlayStation Portable for only $39.99 with a rating of “Teen” by the ESRB.
