Long-Term Agreement for Call of Duty DLC First On Xbox 360

Call of Duty Black Ops Downloadable Content first on Xbox LIVEOne of the leading video game publishers worldwide, Activision Publishing, and Microsoft, announced today that all Call of Duty game add-ons and downloadable content packages will be first released on the Xbox LIVE Online Entertainment Network exclusively, courtesy of the multi-year agreement between the two companies.

The agreement officially began in 2009, and now extends for all downloadable content packages for the mega-blockbuster Call of Duty Franchise throughout the year 2012, which includes Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Executive Vice President & General Manager of Activision's Call of Duty Business Unit, Philip Earl, said that their Treyarch Studio is doing something special with Call of Duty: Black Ops, which is why they are thrilled to announce this Xbox LIVE agreement. He also stated that this agreement reflects their shared and continued focus on creating the most compelling and exciting content releases for fans around the world.

Call of Duty titles usually rank on the top of the most-played charts in the Xbox LIVE, with billions of gameplay hours online, making it the largest community of the franchise.

Corporate Vice President of Microsoft, Marc Whitten, said that with 25 million members, Xbox LIVE is the industry's premier online gaming service that establishes the best in cooperative and multiplayer online play for blockbuster franchises like the Call of Duty franchise. He also stated that with the release of game addons and map packs coming first to Xbox 360, Xbox LIVE is the place to play Call of Duty for years to come.
