If you didn't have the opportunity to play the frantic pipe puzzler Heron: Steam Machine, now you have it, because this puzzle iPhone game will be free-to-get only this weekend on 23rd and 24th January.
Heron: Steam Machine takes place in a factory which is producing rubber duckies by a large steam engine. There are four different gauges on this engine that represent steam, electricity, water and oil, which have to be followed carefully by the player. The player has to connect a pipe with the same color as the gauges when they start to rise. By connecting those pipes, the player will earn points and relieve some of the pressure on the engine, therefore preventing it from blowing up and saving as many rubber duckies as he can.
The game is Plus+ enabled, which means that you can connect to a community of gamers across a growing variety of games. Plus+ is a social network developed for the iPhone and iPod touch in which you can compete against your friends or the world by playing Direct Challenges or battling for a spot on the global leaderboards. Players can show off their gaming skills by unlocking in-game awards and comparing their overall Score and Points earned by completing those awards with the fellow gamers.
Heron: Steam Machine is available for $0.99 in the Apple App Store by default, but it is free this weekend. The game is also available worldwide on the Nintendo WiiWare.
