The UK Publisher Reef Entertainment and the Leading Italian independent developer Raylight are included, with their extreme sports game Free Running on the Nintendo Wii Home Gaming Console.
For the first time the 14th year old international television and multimedia animation festival has included entrants from the video games market and their contribution to the mainstream entertainment medium.
Free Running has earned the nomination for its blend of fast-paced game play, compelling animation and graphical content, and it is competing against games such as Diabolik: The Original Sin and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
CEO of Reef Entertainment, Peter Rezon, stated that this is Reef's first award nomination and that they are thrilled that Free Running is in the "running". He also explained that they have prided their selves for its unique take on the Free Running sport and fantastic realization of its moves and tricks and to be recognized for best interactive animation is a great honor for them and for Raylight.
CEO of Raylight, Massi Di Monda, stated that they have worked very hard on this game for the Nintendo Wii to fully utilize the controllers, but also to graphically capture the true essence of the Free Running sport, which looks as good in real life as it does in the game. He also stated that they are very proud to be nominated especially with such esteemed company, and it is a great boost for the Italian development community as it shows that they can compete on a global stage.
The Cartoons on the Bay – Pulcinella Awards 2010 will be announced in April 2010.
