Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced the third sequel to the heart-pounding paranormal horror first-person shooter unleashing stunning and intense combat, titled F.E.A.R. 3 (F.3.A.R.). F.E.A.R. 3 is expected to release on the Sony PlayStation 3 gaming console, The Xbox 360 gaming console, and Windows-Based PCs in autumn 2010. The game is expected to evolve the franchise with compelling narrative and cooperative game play.
Alma will return in F.E.A.R. 3, but this time her sons named Point Man and Paxton Fettel will introduce divergent cooperative game play, giving players different abilities which will affect their own play as well as the experience of their cooperative game-play partner. F.E.A.R.3 is developed by Day 1 Studios in collaboration with Monolith Studios, and it will offer players the ability to play in single-player or cooperative modes as the genetically enhanced super soldier that was originally introduced in F.E.A.R., named Point Man, or they can play cooperatively as his conniving brother named Paxton Fettel whose incredible telekinetic power has given him life beyond the grave.
President of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Martin Tremblay, said that Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is evolving the F.E.A.R. brand with top horror, cooperative and first-person shooter combat in F.E.A.R. 3. He also stated that Monolith Productions has passed the torch to Day 1 Studios to create a quality, powerful game that stays true to the roots of the F.E.A.R. franchise but takes players to a heightened level of game play.
The legendary horror director named John Carpenter, and the critically acclaimed horror comic and script writer Steve Niles, have provided consultation to enhance several of the game's frightening aspects, to ensure the extreme terror in F.E.A.R. 3. Steve Niles co-wrote the game script with the development team, and John Carpenter provided his excellent expertise in crafting the in-game cinematics.
Founder and President of Day 1 Studios, Denny Thorley, explained that after working closely with Monolith, Day 1 is honored to bring the next sequel of the F.E.A.R. franchise to players with key elements of the past games yet providing fresh combat and horror experiences in F.E.A.R. 3. He also said that players can look forward to the new features such as divergent cooperative game-play, an evolved cover system, and more scares in F.E.A.R. 3.
