The Electronic Arts Studio, Maxis, announced that its next project is going to be an online sci-fi action rpg entitled, Darkspore. The game is going to combine action and fiction elements, and is expected to launch in February, 2011.

“Darkspore is inspired in part by the award-winning creature editor tech of Spore, but also in large part from the team’s own passion for gaming and prior experience,” said Lucy Bradshaw, General Manager of Maxis Studio. “The team has combined these inspirations to produce a unique take on the action RPG genre.”

Darkspore is going to be a fast-paced action game where players will battle across alien worlds in order to save the galaxy from the Darkspore mutated forces. The game will feature four-player cooperative and full single-player campaigns, and also multiplayer battles.

Darkspore will also feature three unique classes of five different hero types, and much more.

Electronic Arts is going to launch Darkspore in February, 2011.
