Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Surpasses One Billion USD in Worldwide Retail Sales

The Game Continues to Set Retail Sell Records

Activision Blizzard Inc. announced today that Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 continues to make retails sales crossing the One Billion USD mark worldwide, since its launch in November.

In the first five days of the game’s launch, it sold an estimated 550 million USD worldwide, surpassing five-day worldwide gross figures for such movies as Avatar, Harry Potter and others, according to the internal Activision estimates and box office mojo.

CEO of Activision Blizzard Robert Kotick stated that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has exceeded their expectations and shattered the theatrical box office and video game records. He also stated that there are only a handful of entertainment properties that have reached the one billion USD mark, which illustrates the power of the Call of Duty franchise and mass appeal of the game.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is rated “M” for Mature by the ESRM for Blood, Drug Reference, Intense Violence and Language.
