Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is on its way to become the fastest downloaded demo in the Electronic Arts history with its dominating two million demo downloads across the Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network in the first five days of its availability. The Windows-Based PCs BETA has also achieved great success with its hundreds of thousands of players already testing it online. With the huge popularity of the PC Beta, PlayStation Network and Xbox Live DEMO, the game is expected to be the premier first-person shooter of the year 2010. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will hit stores on 5th of March, 2010.
Senior Producer on Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Patrick Bach, explained that they could not be more thrilled to hear that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is already in the hands of almost two million players, while it hasn't even shipped yet. He also said that the massive rush to experience the game early is a proof that action gamers are looking for more to fill up their needs. Patrick Bach stated that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is a strategic warfare that none of their competitors cannot replicate.
When the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 PC Closed-Beta was first released, Managing Director Craig Fletcher shared with us that they were connecting ten thousand people per second.
The key statistics from 29/01/2010 are:
Over 1 million page views to Multiplay over night; Over 100,000 new Multiplay Member Accounts created; Over 10,000 user connection per second at peak; 10,000 keys distributed in under three hours; 30,000 files served over night, which is 45 Terabytes of data (5000 DVDs); 6,000 player slots on their European Game servers solidly full; and Multiplay quadrupled Fileplay's web serving capacity in under two hours to deal with huge surge in demand.
Another exciting thing about Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is the in-game store.
Senior Producer on Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Patrick Bach, explained that the game will feature an in-game store similar to that of Mass Effect 2's. Players will access the store through a code included in all copies of the game, which means that if you buy a used copy of the game, you will have to pay extra money to access it.
Patrick Bach stated that they want people to insert the code they get when they buy the game to get access to the Downloadable Content, and that it is connected to your personal account. In the future, more content will be added for free, and players will need this VIP code to get it.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be released in stores on 2th of March in North America and on 5th of March in the United Kingdom for the Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3 and Windows-Based PCs. The Limited Edition of Bad Company 2 can be pre-ordered now on all platforms at no extra cost.
