Blizzard Entertainment announced that its World of Warcraft subscriber base exceeded twelve million players around the world. This number was reached after the Wrath of the Lich King release in China, and as anticipation for Cataclysm continues until the release on the 7th of December.

World of Warcraft was released on the 23rd of November in 2004, after which it became the most popular subscription-based Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game worldwide. World of Warcraft is currently available in North America, Europe, mainland China, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, The Philippines, Chile, Argentina and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong and also Macau.
